General

Rel-17

-     The remaining Rel-17 RAN4 performance work was completed.

Rel-18

-     No new Rel-18 work was allowed in RAN, except following request from SA2, ITU-R and to resolve open issues:

-    IMT-2020 satellite submission

-    RAN3 NPN, slicing and URLLC (based on SA2 needs)

General

Rel-17

-     Most Rel-17 RAN4 performance Work Items for non-spectrum topics were closed, but two remain open:

-    Extending current NR operation to 71GHz

-    Solutions for NR to support non-terrestrial networks (NTN)

Rel-18

-     Rel-18 RAN ASN.1 freeze was changed to June 2024 to align with CT

-     Rel-18 Stage 2 and Stage 3 (SA/CT) were extended to June 2023 and March 2024 respectively

-     Rel-17 core functionality is now frozen (last 2 RAN exceptions were completed; SA/CT Stage 3 work was also completed)

-     Most, but not all, remaining Rel-17 RAN4 performance Work Items for non-spectrum topics were completed

General

This was the first F2F meeting since December 2019. Delegates were very happy to meet F2F again after such a long time and thought it was much more effective than any electronic meeting.

-     Rel-17 ASN.1 was frozen, but nevertheless the June 2022 version of the specifications is not fully implementable.
