This SAT5G demonstration focuses on broadband connectivity to platforms on the move, more specifically commercial airplanes, thus falling under both transport and logistics, and media and entertainment.

In terms of 5G ITU functionalities, the demonstration investigates: 

  • Satellite access for self-backhaul.
  • Support of Network slicing, SDN/NFV, Edge computing, Network Management and orchestration. 
  • Traffic steering between unicast and multicast resources. Mobility management with moving cell. Multi-virtualisation technology support (VM, light weight: containers).
